Open for over seven years, Blue Moon Restaurant has gone from strength to strength, having been voted Aberdeen’s Restaurant of the Year for four years running. Public demand has led to a second venue Blue Moon 2, situated in Alford Lane nearby the original restaurant. Owner Arzu Miah has perfected the recipe for success and both establishments are a credit to clean, modern design. Blue Moon is a bright and modern dining environment that shuns the clichéd motifs sometimes seen in other Indian restaurants. Bright and colourful prints of succulent, fresh vegetables adorn the walls, and when you see that even the side plates are shaped like small, blue crescent moons, you realise that the attention to detail is second to none. Blue Moon 2 has seating for around 60-70 people downstairs, while there is private dining room upstairs which seats up to 40. Children are welcome at Blue Moon and can order from their own menu for just £4.99 (including main meal, ice cream and soft drink). With all the media attention surrounding additives in food, it is reassuring know that Blue Moon is possibly the only Indian Restaurant in Aberdeen that uses no food colourings whatsoever in any of their recipes. Moving on to the most important part, the food never fails to impress. The expert chefs have devised a skillful blend of traditional dishes and house specialities, which you won’t find elsewhere, such as peppered snapper masala; a fillet of red snapper, smothered in a richly spiced sauce and blended with yoghurt. A full takeaway and delivery service is also available. Whatever the occasion and whichever Blue Moon you choose to dine in, you’re guaranteed to be left eagerly awaiting your next visit.
