Slice is a stylish contemporary dining room serving innovative cuisine with an emphasis on using local produce. Its owners have impressive culinary careers to their name, having worked with several renowned chefs such as Peter Gorton (of Horn of Plenty in Devon fame) before opening their own place. They are also passionate about using local, Welsh produce on their menu and even grow their own herbs. The restaurant itself offers a serene environment of white walls and stripped wooden floors and tables in which to enjoy a meal. The sublime food includes their own finely sliced smoked organic salmon with watercress and yoghurt dressing. For main course, try an exquisitely presented roast marinated duck breast with fondant potato and port sauce. An iced nougat glace with vanilla poached pear can bring your meal to a close, leaving just enough room for coffee and petit fours. With an eye for detail in both their food and service, the Slice team aim to deliver the best experience possible in their small 16-seater restaurant on Eversley Road. For lunch you have the option of two or three courses, or a six-course tasting menu. For dinner you can choose from three courses or the sumptuous six-course tasting menu. Dinner starts with such options as Pan Fried Plaice, Cauliflower Puree & Crisps with Brown Butter Dressing or Goats Cheese Ravioli, Pumpkin Mousse, Pomegranate &Amaretti Biscuit. This can be followed with a main of Roast Venison Loin, Braised Shoulder Pie, Salsify& Beetroot Leaves. If there’s room for dessert, try the Baked Egg Custard, Poached Rhubarb, Ginger Shortbread & Rhubarb Ripple Ice Cream which goes down a treat. The restaurant is open for lunch Friday to Sunday from 12:30pm to 2pm and for dinner Thursday to Sunday from 6:15pm to 9:15pm.
