Morrissey once famously complained that every day was like Sunday, but this cafe positively celebrates the fact, with freshly squeezed orange juice and smoothies, all-day breakfasts, Fair Trade coffee and newspapers to peruse while jazz and blues standards play in the background. The ambience is light and airy, with soft lighting reflected off a white canopy ceiling, and a changing display of Scottish seasonal scenes. There’s no Sunday roast, but a healthy choice of fresh salad platters and hot food specials in Mediterranean style, with meat and veggie options. You can order a hot special and get two small platters as side dishes, from the menu which changes daily. There’s a great selection of cakes and pastries, from Scottish classics like Raspberry Cranachan cake to a Polish cheesecake that’s simply sublime. Little wonder this cafe is so popular with locals and tourists alike.
