The Standard has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with cosy lighting and high mirrors. The interior design takes its lead from the original architecture of the building - circa 1850 - incorporating a playful art deco mood. Located on Howe Street, the bar serves premium pub and restaurant food, straddling traditional flavours with a delicate Scottish slant. The range of create-your-own-topping burgers are the pride of the bar. Exciting breakfast options can be ordered from 11am on weekdays, including Eggs Benedict, Florentine and Pacifico and the full Scottish is available as a weekend treat to sate even the most vociferous of appetites. Also, a full Sunday roast can be enjoyed on the luxurious leather banquette seating for just under £10. Sports lovers will be comfortable here with wide-screen TVs which host a number of events, and patrons are regularly delighted by the free pies dished out on big sporting days. A wide range of tantalising cocktails are available, and prices start from just £3.95. One not to be missed is the refreshing ‘Jimi Hendrix’: Hendrick’s gin, apple juice , mint, cucumber and lemon blended together for a summer treat with a groovy kick.
