The Waterline is a traditional bar/bistro set by the ever popular Water of Leith. This former grain store is now a spacious, stylish bar on the shore. A nautical theme is set up by the lifebelt, rope, anchors and shipping maps, and prints on the wall, in a traditional wooden interior. With a heated outdoor table area and attractive view of the Water of Leith, the bar attracts a more relaxed, mature clientele, tempted by a rather good menu, and the opportunity for al fresco dining and drinking (weather permitting). Don’t worry if the weather is typically, Scottish; inside there is a cosy fireside to shelter from the elements in comfort. On the menu is high end pub grub, and you’ll be spoilt for choice between breaded mushrooms, bruschetta, and sharing platters, and that’s just for starters. For your main course you can indulge in steak pie, chicken Balmoral, chilli and lime salmon, haggis, neeps n’ tatties and a choice of steaks, ribeye or sirloin. The usual range of burgers and nachos is on offer, all at a generous price, with food served till 9. A range of desserts is also available, all made fresh on the premises. At the bar is a range of beers form Tennents’, Stella, Staropramen, Peroni, Guiness or Belhaven (this is a Belhaven bar after all). There is an independent wine menu, with 7 reds and 7 whites on offer, from £8.99 - £13.99 per bottle. On Saturday evenings you can enjoy the sounds of live blues or jazz, and Thursday night is Quiz Night, with £25 food and drink vouchers up for grabs. The Waterline is proud to claim that their steak pie is always hot and the beer is cold and the welcome is warm. Offering a wee bit of everything for everyone, The Waterline has plenty to tempt you back on board.
