With excellent Spanish-style cuisine and fine hospitality, La Tasca has a long history of serving authentic Iberian food in relaxed, informal surroundings. in the centre of Edinburgh’s New Town. This bustling eatery’s popularity with Edinburgh’s Spanish community, no less than tourists, is testament to the quality of its cuisine. Located in a stylish converted Georgian townhouse just off Princes Street, the bright, Mediterranean décor, complete with hanging dried flowers and vegetables and authentic Spanish artwork, help create a delightful dining experience. All the dishes are prepared using the freshest ingredients, many specially imported from Spain. Some of the beautiful bite-sized tapas dishes include Gambas Gabardina (king prawns deep fried in special batter with garlic mayonnaise), Brocheta de Pollo (fresh chicken breast and red peppers on a skewer marinated with spices, served with garlic mayonnaise), Albondigas a la Jardinera (meatballs served with vegetable and tomato sauce) and the gorgeous Salmon Fresco-Scottish (Salmon served on a bed of wilted spinach, raisins and pear). You can sample these delicacies in a variety of ways and offers, such as the lunch for two deal for £10 (every day till 4PM), while ‘tapas for a tenner’ (Sunday to Tuesday from 5pm til 9 PM) lets you graze away at a selected range to your stomach’s content. The Bodega Bar, situated in the basement, can accommodate fiestas for up to 80 people. La Tasca have close links with the local salsa community, so you can have a dance class to show you how to let your hair down Spanish style. While the award-winning chef can create a bespoke menu to satisfy your taste and budget.
