The high quality kiltmakers owner, Gordon Nicolson, has over twenty-eight years experience in crafting kilts that are second to none. If you are after an original garment, any tartan is available in this popular store. For a totally unique piece, tartan design is also available to accommodate that extra special occasion.
Nicolson’s own metalworker, Norman Milne, crafts Sgian Dubh’s from scratch on site which are tailored to the needs of the customer. Any size or shape is available - materials range from classic stag horn to hand carved silver mounts. Kilt pins and sporrans can also be handmade in store to match individual kilt designs and requirements.
Nicolson’s prides itself on maintaining its Scottish heritage by sourcing all of its stock from craftspeople in Scotland, whether made on site or elsewhere.
If you are just having a browse or making family history, it is worth taking a trip downstairs to see the free Jacobite Exhibition, which traces the history of tartan in Scotland. The range of fine collected pieces of historical worth will inform and entertain the true Scot as much as any tourist.
For those who want to get dressed up in Jacobite attire and have their picture taken to remember the experience, a spanking new photography studio is situated in-store. Lifetime memories are a snatch at only £25 for the full costume and photograph service. Ladies and men’s outfits are available in three styles.
