There’s no shortage of award-
winning eateries in Bristol,
but Wilks towers over the
competition. Having gained a
coveted spot on The Sunday
Times and Hardens list of the
UK’s 100 best restaurants in
2014, the Redland venue is
turning heads for all the right
reasons. It’s also the proud
owner of a Michelin star,
which it has retained three
years running. But enough of
the plaudits: just what makes
Wilks so good? Well, the
quality of food, of course, but
also the ambience and value
for money. Guests are treated
like royalty from the moment
they walk through the door. The
cooking, meanwhile, is light
and fresh, with a strong focus
on clean flavours and wild
locally-sourced
ingredients.
The menu features innovative
interpretations
of
classic
dishes, as well as bolder new
creations. Sunday roasts are
a particular winner – stave
off thoughts of the impending
working week with a plate
of dry-aged beef Wellington,
homemade
puff
pastry,
wild mushroom duxelle and
Perigord truffle. To complement
your meal, an extensive wine
list is on hand – select a fine-
bodied red, crisp white or lush
rosé, with plenty of organic or
biodynamic options also on
offer. A truly sumptuous dining
experience.
