Metquarter, opened in 2006, is a luxury shopping
destination comprising some 129,000 square feet.
Home to 44 stores– mostly stylish fashion houses
specialising in sought-after menswear, womenswear
and accessories – Metquarter is spread over two
levels and provides savvy shoppers with plenty of
opportunity to smarten up and stand out from the
crowd. At present, the modern brick-and-glass centre
includes such stores as Jo Malone and Allsaints. If
you’re cultivating a look of understated elegance, an
eye-catching outfit for a summer festival, or are in the
market for brand-new business attire, you’ve certainly
come to the right place: the garments occupying the
shop windows are uniformly sharp. Browse what’s on
offer in Gieves & Hawkes, Jack Wills and Hugo Boss
before complementing your choices with jewellery
from Links of London, with its eclectic selection of
contemporary gold and silver pieces and an enviable
assortment of classic, leather-strapped watches.
Fulfilling your sartorial ambition has never been
easier. Of course, fashion isn’t the only string on this
ornate bow: the complex is home to several spas and
perfumeries. Step into Mac Cosmetics for a makeover
by a professionally trained makeup artist, refresh
mind, body and soul with a decadent spa treatment at
the Urban Calm day spa or get a trendy new haircut
at the sophisticated Sassoon Salon. Alternatively, you
can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Carluccio’s,
or enjoy a well-earned coffee or smoothie at Costa.
Change is afoot, though – in a good way. The venue
changed hands for a reported £18 million in early 2016
and the new owners intend to add new restaurants
and extend the opening hours. Metquarter, it would
appear, is about to get even better.
