Coia’s Cafe is a Glasgow institution. Having opened its doors for the first time over 80 years ago, it remains the East End’s favourite Italian eatery, now run by the third generation of the Coia family, Alfredo and Antonia. Alfredo recognised the need for fine Italian cuisine in the East End and Coia’s serve a mouth-watering A La Carte menu. The traditional clientele have not been negelected though; they still serve up their famous fish and chips, which remains a firm favourite with locals, as well as their rich steak pie. There is also a take away service available, as well as the cigar club. The traditional booth seating remains, the perfect place to enjoy an Italian coffee topped with fresh cream, and there is an open plan dining area in which to sample the delights of the extensive A La Carte Menu. All the dishes are cooked to the highest standard and made with only the finest produce sourced from Italy and Scotland. The Antipasti menu features delights such as seared scallops on a bed of rocket, or there are the fresh oven baked breads infused with garlic infused oil, rosemary and sea salt. A range of traditional main meals are available, like Beef Olives in Tomato and Red Wine Sauce, or you can choose from the array of Italian pasta dishes on offer made with tagliatelle and linguine, such as the Tagliatelle Gamberoni E Cappesante - garlic, chilli, tiger prawns, scallops, cherry tomatoes and rocket. And as you’d expect from such an established Italian restaurant, Coia’s pizzas are second to none and their award winning ice cream is a huge hit with adults and children alike. Coia’s serves up authentic Italian cuisine in a friendly, neighbourhood-feel cafe, creating a dining experience you’ll never forget. Booking is highly recommended.
