Fratelli Sarti - Wellington Street
The three Sarti restaurants located on Bath Street, Wellington Street and Renfield Street serve excellent quality Tuscan and Ligurian, each with the same menu and different decor to suit your mood. First established in 1992 by brothers Piero and Sandro Sarti and co-founded by Gerry O’Donnell, the Wellington Street eatery began as a deli. Today its walls are shelved with wines and vinegars and an open kitchen and bar give it a homely warmth. Walk into its younger sister on Bath Street to meet the bar where a vast array of wines are displayed. Terraotta walls with exposed brickwork give the restaurant a trattoria feel. If you are looking for a super classy diner, the Renfield Street Sarti is it. Housed in an old building society it boasts Morano glass chandeliers, marble floors, wood panelling and an ornate fireplace which matches the street-facing stonework. Tasty Sarti-style pizza and pasta dishes await you - there are also some hidden gems such as the Sarti Tuscan sausage slow cooked in a tomato sauce and black olives and the Seafood Salad. With much produce imported from Italy for the most genuine taste, and excellent service, not much more could be asked of a restaurant.
