Manchester’s prestigious international concert hall opened in September 1996, and since its opening has received plaudits from artists and audiences alike for its stunning design and marvellous acoustics. In March 1998, The Bridgewater Hall was named winner of a Civic Trust Special Award, given for the new building which has done the most to enhance the appearance of a city centre. The Hall also received an award from the Royal Institute of British Architects in November 1998. Hosting over 250 performances a year and boasting an award-winning restaurant and café bar, its waterfront location in the heart of the city makes it an ideal conference and event venue. On concert evenings, bars are open on all four levels, serving both before the concert and during the interval. Coffee is served in the Touchstones and Circle Bars and interval drinks can be pre-ordered on all four levels; post-concert drinks are served in the Touchstones Café Bar. Head Chef Marco Tedde offers a Touchstones Café Bar dining menu from 5.30pm-6.45pm on concert nights. The Charles Hallé Restaurant has established a dedicated following from concert-goers and has attracted glowing reviews in the local press, including a feature in the Which? Good Food Guide 2007, as one of the top UK restaurants. Head Chef Marco Tedde’s award-winning menus for pre-concert diners include full vegetarian options. Meals are served from 5.30pm and your table can be pre-booked when purchasing tickets. The menu du jour, giving a choice of starter, main course and dessert, changes daily and is offered at a fixed price of £21.00 for 2 courses, coffee and petits fours or £26.50 for 3 courses.
