Tatton Park
Tatton Park is one of the UK’s most complete and impressive historic estates, boasting a stunning Neo-Classical mansion, designed by Samuel Wyatt for William Egerton. Through history, photographs, events and education, visitors are given a contrasting glimpse of the lavish lifestyle of the Egerton Family and the domestic life of their servants, in a beautiful country setting. 50 acres of award winning gardens include a restored Kitchen Garden and Pinery, the famous Japanese Garden, as well as the Fernery and Arboretum among its many wonderfully varied features. The atmospheric and mysterious Tudor Old Hall (as featured on TV’s Most Haunted) welcomes visitors on special open days. Tatton’s Farm is perfect for all the family, providing a picture of rural life in the 1930s, as well as being home to a variety of rare breed animals, with Rare Breeds Survival Trust Accreditation. The 1,000 acre deer park is home to both Red and Fallow Deer, and every season brings its own rich variety of birds and wildlife. The parkland, woodland and Meres provide plenty of opportunity for exploration on bike or on foot, and are the perfect place to enjoy a picnic. Within the estate, Tatton’s speciality shops sell a wide range of products reflecting the park’s character, ranging from estate reared meats in the recently expanded Housekeeper’s Store, to fresh produce from the Kitchen Garden in the Garden Shop, and unique items reflecting Tatton’s history in Tatton Gifts. Together with the Stables Restaurant and a year-round events programme, a visit to Tatton has a unique mixture of history, culture and countryside which combine for a magical day visit.
