Touchstones Rochdale is located on The Esplanade in Rochdale town centre. The Borough’s permanent collection is housed here, with a significant holding of works by local artists and international artists ranging from Lucien Freud to di Canio. The Borough’s collection is displayed in Gallery Two. Two other galleries showcase temporary exhibitions for contemporary arts and crafts, though the big exhibition here this year is ‘En Plein Air’, showcasing works in this genre from the permanent collection. Most innovatively, Gallery One is a dedicated community gallery, for people living in the borough to exhibit and curate. There truly is something for everyone here, with a heritage gallery, local studies centre, tourist information centre, café and shop with regular events and workshops. Touchstones Rochdale is open Mon to Sat 10am-5pm and Sundays 12- 4.30pm.
