As the name suggests, Gaucho Restaurant is an Argentinian restaurant specialising in Argentinian beef, renowned as best in the world, matured between six and eight weeks, then flown direct from Buenos Aires. However, to ignore the rest of the menu, which changes every 6 months, would be a mistake. Designed by internationally renowned chef Douglas Rodrigues, starters such as the ceviche (Latin American sushi) and Argentinian sausages are a must. Choose from a la carte, the lunch menu or three set menus for groups of 10 or more. All Gaucho Restaurants are housed in unique buildings and the Manchester restaurant is no exception. It started life as a Methodist hall and still retains the organ and organ pipes (which strangely enough complement the Gaucho interior of industrial meets cowhide). All in all, quality food in impressive, fully airconditioned surroundings. Incredibly high ceilings and split level dining add to this dramatic space, encompassing a striking modernist design. The restaurant can accommodate 180,with 3 private dining rooms that seat up to 55 people. A recent edition to the restaurant is ‘Cavas de Gaucho’, a wine boutique housing the most comprehensive collection of Argentine Wines in Europe, overseen by head sommelier Phil Crozier. The Cavas doesn’t only house wines on the menus, but also a selection of beautifully hand crafted wine accessories and luxury gourmet products from Argentina. Visitors can taste the wines in-store as well as enjoying unique vintages by the glass in a relaxed ‘cavas’ like space. Little wonder Gaucho was voted Restaurant of the Year at the Manchester Food & Drink Festival.
