The Bruntsfield Hotel (Best Western)

Thanks to its Best Western Plus credentials, The Bruntsfield comes bearing a formidable reputation. This four-star establishment combines excellent facilities with a location to match, overlooking the Meadows and with views that extend all the way to Arthur’s Seat. The independently-run hotel prides itself on delivering the sort of highly-personalised service that large chains simply can’t match. 67 guest rooms are fitted with plush bedding and little luxuries that help turn a good stay into a great one. Standard rooms feature en-suite facilities, while queen-sized double beds are available for those who desire additional space. A highlight of any stay at The Bruntsfield is dinner at Bisque Brasserie, the hotel’s chic restaurant. On pleasant evenings, dinner on the garden terrace is an affair to be savoured and lingered over; pork belly is pan seared and oven roasted with caramelised apple and calvados, while Scottish Borders steaks, aged for 28 days, are served with fat fries and garlic mayonnaise. Lunch may be simpler, but the choice is just as appetising: prawn and crayfish open sandwiches compete with venison burgers and the trusty croque monsieur.

The location is the best feature of this hotel; directly across from the 'Links', which are quite pleasant to stroll through, and within a walk from many major attractions, shopping, restaurants. Rooms are pleasant and comfortable, food is very good and staff are friendly. In summer, windows open just a few inches and rooms can be stuffy on hot days. There is also quite a bit of traffic noise, so bring ear plugs if you aren't a heavy sleeper (wedding parties at the hotel can also bring quite a bit of noise). Overall, a nice place.

I stay in the hotel a lot for business and find it is excellent with helpful staff located opposite the park/meadows. Also not far from the city centre and all the major attractions if you are just going for the sights.

Lovely hotel with view over Bruntsfield Links. Great breakfasts, well presented rooms and helpful staff. Car Park available.

Really nice room, comfortable bed and although its on the street there was no noise at night so we had a brilliant nights sleep recovering from a week of camping in the highlands! Service was great and breakfast was really good. Good location about half an hour walk to the royal mile but staff at reception would have been happy to call a taxi for us.
