Kelburn Estate is a little bit different to your typical historic house in Scotland. It’s got the 13th century castle, dramatic walks and breathtaking gardens, but it’s also been entirely made over by a team of Brazilian artists! The whole house front is awash with a rainbow of drawings and paintings, and acts as a centre point to extensive events and activities. Try your hand at pony-trekking or take the little ones to the fabulous pet’s corner, or go an adventure in the Secret Forest - a complex of woodland paths and raised walkways. The Adventure Course provides a challenging trail of rope swings and walkways, and the 20 foot tower will definitely put you through your paces. If you need to relax afterwards take the kids to the Playbarn, where they’ll be able to expend their energy roaming through the maze of tunnels, dens and slides. If you’re not already worn out, go on the hunt to see the estate’s abundance of wildlife, including roe deer, voles, buzzards and otters.

Staff were super friendly. The secret forest was fantastic, my kids loves it (the husband and I did to!). We went for a walk to the monument the grounds were well tended to. Cafe area is well kept and staff again were lovely. Great spot to visit.

Went on a Sunday. Lots to do. We booked tickets for frozen event in castle - was very good. Kids enjoyed feeding goats and chickens (around 50p donation for food) and we had a good walk around grounds and a shot in indoor soft play. We were lucky to be there on a sunny day but I’d definitely recommend it.

Love visiting this place. So beautiful. The staff are fantastic and the grounds of the castle are wonderful to walk around. Would so recommend going.
