Lochside House

The clue is in the name. Overlooking the dark waters of Loch Creoch, Lochside House Hotel offers style and fine sustenance in a spectacular setting. The Victorian hotel and spa is set in 20 acres of land, with guest rooms enjoying gorgeous views across the Ayrshire countryside. Built as a shooting lodge by the Marquis of Bute, the building has been extensively refurbished in recent years but retains many of its originals features and furnishings. The four-star establishment leads on to a nine-hole golf course and is close to a major attraction in the form of Dumfries House. A boutique hotel, Lochside House features five standard rooms, nine executive rooms and 15 garden suites. En-suite shower, bath, flat screen TV and wifi come as standard. For 2015, the hotel has added luxury lodges with space for 8-12 guests and awe-inspiring views of the Afton Hills and the calm loch. Dining at the Lochside takes place in the Afton Bar, whose glass exterior and wraparound terrace allow light and that all-important view to permeate. Light bites, homemade scones and fresh coffee will keep hunger at bay till dinnertime, whereupon you can sit down to formal dining in a relaxed setting, before unwinding with a cocktail or two.

Not a lot needs to be said. Simply First Class ! It has been improved considerably since our last visit and the Company should be proud of its achievements. The Lochside Hotel room (No. 6), service, food, refreshments, staff, location, views. All First Class. Well done and thank you. We will be back soon.

Nestled at the side of a small loch, this hotel boasts exquisite furnishings, spacious rooms and a wonderful spa. It had a large function hall ideal for weddings and beautifully manicured gardens. Staff are all attentive and kind and the food in the Afton restaurant is wonderful too.
