The Shankly Hotel

Bill Shankly famously said ‘Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool.’ One can’t help but conjure the quote when walking through The Shankly Hotel. The result of a £20 million development, the city’s newest luxury hotel is the only football-themed hotel in Liverpool. Posited on Victoria Street, in a building that once held the offices of Liverpool City Council, The Shankly Hotel boasts 83 uniquely furnished bedrooms. Choose from Luxury Rooms with their very own whirlpool jacuzzi baths and 50-inch TV screens, or Luxury Studios complete with kitchenette and sofa bed. With gold picture frames and sleek wooden floors, the rooms offer accommodation that’s both luxurious and fun. Elsewhere, the family-oriented Bastion restaurant serves dishes inspired by Bill Shankly’s culinary favourites. After dinner, check out the hotel museum, home to a collection of never-before-seen personal items belonging to the footballing icon. Incidentally, only phase one of the hotel has been completed; phase two includes the addition of a rooftop bar and restaurant and the installation of an infinity swimming pool. Moreover, a spacious conference and events centre will be built. Known as Eden, it will be designed to accommodate 350 delegates, with completion scheduled for spring 2016.

Lovely welcome at reception. Had only just checked in but felt like I was going to have a super time after speaking with Anthony, and I did have a good day. Staying in Liverpool for work on that occasion but might come back for fun next time!

Great venue fantastic sercice and staff. Cannot recommend highly enough. Restaurant is great with a Scottish theme menu. The memorabilia is al very tastefully displayed and thought out. Hard to get the right balance. Will stay again.
