The South Beach Hotel is a family-run hotel
welcomes business guests, golfing parties,
families and couples seeking a weekend away.
Inside the modern establishment, 32 en-suite
bedrooms are furnished to a high standard, with
many enjoying sea views. Service is friendly,
with a distinctly laid-back vibe; if there’s anything
staff can do to make your stay more comfortable,
just ask and they’ll readily attend to it. During
the day, the hotel is a chilled kinda place, but by
night there’s a distinct buzz as guests and locals
frequent the bar and diners take their seats in the
restaurant. The recently refurbished Millers Bar is
the place to head for a relaxing drink or a light
supper. Tartan carpets and wood panelling give
the bar a distinctly Scottish vibe, without ever
feeling twee. With a nomination for Golf Hotel of
the Year, it’s fair to say The South Beach takes its
golfing seriously.

Overlooking the dark waters of Loch Creoch,
Lochside House Hotel offers style and fine
sustenance in a spectacular setting. The Victorian
hotel and spa is set in 20 acres of land, with
guest rooms enjoying gorgeous views across the
Ayrshire countryside. The four-star establishment
leads on to a nine-hole golf course and is close to
a major attraction in the form of Dumfries House.
En-suite shower, bath, flat screen TV and wifi
come as standard. For 2015, the hotel has added
luxury lodges with space for 8-12 guests and awe-
inspiring views of the Afton Hills and the calm loch.
Dining at the Lochside takes place in the Afton Bar,
whose glass exterior and wraparound terrace allow
light and that all-important view to permeate. Light
bites, homemade scones and fresh coffee will keep
hunger at bay till dinnertime, whereupon you can sit
down to formal dining in a relaxed setting, before
unwinding with a cocktail or two.
