THE PUMP ROOM
The Roman Baths are perhaps the city’s most
iconic and famous attraction. So where better to
enjoy dining in the epitome of style and elegance
than The Pump Room restaurant, connected to
the Baths themselves. Enjoy breakfast, brunch or
afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings, with The
Pump Room’s resident pianist playing classical
music to gently accompany your conversations.
Oozing ambience, the venue also provides views
over the historic and mysterious hot springs. The
Pump Room is housed in a magnificent 18th
century building, a neoclassical salon complete
with a fountain. During your visit be sure to take
the water and taste the spa for yourself, for it is
unlike any other, containing 43 different types of
minerals said to be used to cure many conditions.
Since the late 17th century it has been recognised
as a treatment thanks to its healing properties.
Arrive early in the day to enjoy brunch and
elevenses, feasting on smoked salmon, pancakes
or a good old-fashioned bacon roll. For a healthy
start there are nutritious smoothies, or for
something a little more decadent, enjoy a morning
cocktail, or a glass of fine champagne. From noon
to 2pm, lunch is served, offering a gourmet a la
carte menu. Starters, main courses and delicious
desserts are followed by coffee and chocolates
and if your visit is later in the afternoon, you may
want to take afternoon tea in The Pump Room.
Choose between one of the imaginative set
afternoon tea packages, or a sweet or savoury tea
time treat with your choice of beverage. Of course
you can accompany your tea with a chilled glass
of Searcys Champagne for that extra special
experience and for something authentically
local, opt for a Somerset high tea complete with
Orchard Pig Cider and other delicacies inspired
by Somerset produce.
