The Plough Inn is located in Wreay, a
picturesque little village lying 5 miles south of
Carlisle. Steeped in history that dates all the
way back to 1786, it’s a great location for a bite
to eat and pint of real ale. It was nominated for
Best Country Pub 2014/2015/2016, won Best
Country Pub 2017, was CAMRA Winter pub
of the season 2016 as well as receiving the
TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Awards in
both 2015 and 2017. Tastefully modernised in
2004, the Inn was refurbished with handmade
brickwork and granite slabs, while the rustic bar
was built using bricks from an old mill and parts
of a combine harvester. All meals are freshly
cooked to order with afternoon teas available
on request, so whether it’s for a light bite or a
bigger meal, The Plough Inn is the perfect place
to while away a few hours.
