In the heart of Carlisle on Lowther Street is
Sannas Ristorante Italiano. Whether you pop in
after some shopping or before a trip to the cinema,
this restaurant offers the art of modern Italian food
in their very own Little Italy. The decor is light, airy,
bright and contemporary with some more classic
touches here and there. The food is excellent, the
atmosphere is comfortable, warm and vibrant, and
the owner and staff are always very welcoming.
Dining from the Happy Hour menu (5.30pm to
6.30pm) is a very popular way to experience
the tastes of Sannas at a bargain price. All the
more traditional dishes are available: lasagna,
cannelloni, linguine and risotto, with some more
unusual twists on favourites, like bolognese
pizza, a mash up of two of the best known Italian
cuisine favourites. However, if you’re looking for
something more decadent and exotic, try the A
La Carte menu with a wide choice of higher end
items like steak, sea bass, lamb rump and squid.
Be sure to save some room for a famed Italian
pudding though, whether it be a quintessentially
Italian tiramisu, a rich amaretto laden sweet treat,
or a refreshing gelato. Sannas also features
Sardinian delicacies with a special fritter and
range of local cheeses featuring as island inspired
menu items. As you’d expect from a good Italian
restaurant, there’s a range of excellent wines
available, including house options, or if it’s a
special occasion, you can splash out on prosecco
or a bottle of bubbly. Indeed, Sannas loves special
occasions and with two different Christmas menus
available, friendly staff and a very central location,
it’s an ideal haunt for a great party night.
