A wonderful golfing experience awaits you at

Lanark, the 25th oldest golf club in the world. The

moorland course is one of Scotland’s finest, while

the clubhouse facilities have recently been upgraded

to a high standard. There is a well-stocked pro shop,

practice area and an interesting wee 9-hole course.

The food is also pretty special: Lanark Golf Club’s

resident chef is very well regarded by members. The

course is located just outside the town of Lanark in

the Upper Clyde Valley. Maintained to the highest

green-keeping standards, it is renowned for its

smooth, fast greens, natural moorland fairways and

beautiful, unspoilt views across Scotland’s rolling

South Upland hills. The course is built on a substrate

of glacial sands, providing classic moorland fairways

which drain freely and are playable all year.

The superb quality of Lanark’s greens is praised by

all who play it. Look out your clubs and come see

          for yourself.

The David Livingstone Centre is a biographical

museum in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire dedicated to

the life and work of the legendary Scottish explorer

and missionary. In the 18th century tenement in which

Livingstone was born, visitors can follow his life from

growing up as a piecer in the Blantyre Cotton Mills to

his explorations in Africa. Housed in Shuttle Row, a

tenement which the Livingstones shared with 23 other

families, this historic attraction is packed with items

relating to his explorations in Africa. These include

journals, letters and navigational equipment, as well

as dioramas of significant events in his travels. The

centre also gives a fascinating insight into the living

and working conditions of 19th-century Scotland.

Set in parkland overlooking the River Clyde, there

are plenty of picturesque woodland walks in the area

including along the Clyde Walkway to Bothwell Castle,

making it the perfect place for a family day out.
