SHOPPING & RETAIL
43 Duke Street, Liverpool, L1 5AP

Bazaar is an emporium specialising chiefly in
vintage clothing, though there’s all sorts of gems
to be unearthed when you have a rummage.
Located on Duke Street, a short stroll from
Liverpool ONE, the independent shop prides itself
on providing a ‘unique shopping experience’. The
store’s eclectic goodies include antiques, vintage
musical equipment, curios and collectibles,
homeware, paintings and prints, LPs and CDs,
shoes, jewellery and much more. Nine businesses
occupy the bazaar, hence the hodgepodge of
products available. There’s even a hair salon,
complete with leather chairs and baroque radios.
The Bazaar is truly the ideal retail space for
those looking to kill time and turn up something
special, whether in the form of a retro lampshade,
a bone china teacup, a cult action figure or a
flapper dress.

RESURRECTION
Resurrection is a gem in the crown that is
Liverpool’s independent retail market. The uber-
trendy store, founded back in 1991, started life as
a modest vintage clothing outlet in the Quiggins
arcade and has never compromised its ethos: the
two-storey outfitters specialises in quirky clobber,
snazzy streetwear and mod brands – everything
from trainers, hats and hoodies to belts, boots and
bags. Popular brands include Supra, Carhartt,
Merc & 10Deep, though you’ll also be able to find
original dresses and jewellery from local designers
too. Just browsing this characterful shop is a
pleasure, not least because it feels like taking
a stroll into the iconoclastic past: retro scooters
relax against walls among arcade games, a nod
to the store’s own longevity. There’s always a
banging playlist on the PA too, with shoppers as
likely to hear Notorious B.I.G. spitting bars as The
Stone Roses’ jangling guitars.
