This warm, cosmopolitan, contemporary Indian restaurant on Union Street is a relaxed, stylish place to enjoy classic and innovative curries with friends and family. The dark wooden furniture, exposed brick walls and chocolate brown and orange colour scheme create a chic yet cosy atmosphere. The combination of food and ambience immediately put them on the map - within 4 months of opening they had won Aberdeen Restaurant of the Year, an award they subsequently won three years running! The menu is ‘nouvelle Indian’, with contemporary twists on Indian classics, such as a Mango Murgh – chicken served in a thick mango curry Mangalore style, Malai Tikka (lamb or chicken tandoori in a rich creamy yoghurt with cardamom and white pepper), or Burnt Green Curry, with chicken, spinach and spices. The menu more than taskes advantage of Aberdeen’s proximity to the sea, with the most extensive seafood choices you’ll come across in an Indian; salmon kebab marinated in yoghurt and sesame oil, and charcoal grilled; lobster marinated in lime and turmeric, tossed in a peppery onion and fennel masala with cherry tomatoes, sweet bell peppers and pith curry leaves; the Bangladeshi fish curry, seasonal fish cooked in a medium strength thick sauce with finely chopped garlic, ginger and Bangladeshi green spices. There’s a choice of wines and spirits to suit all budgets, from reasonably priced house bottles of white and red to champagne. The extensive, eclectic wine list includes an impressive Enthusiasts Selection featuring painstakingly selected high-end bottles.
