Craigtoun Park is an idyllic green retreat that lies two miles outside the sleepy town of St Andrews. The park forms a natural haven where families can relax and enjoy a day away from it all. With a dedicated picnic area, you’ll want to bring a packed lunch. Take a woodland walk to work up an appetite, though the kids will likely be more interested in the well-equipped play area. During the summer, there’s also a miniature railway featuring the Puffin’ Billy road train as well as boat rides and crazy golf which can be enjoyed for a small fee. The park also has a small cafeteria and toilets with baby changing facilities. During the summer, the kids can enjoy clambering about the play park as well as having a go on the bouncy castle and trampolines. Run primarily by voluntary staff, the park has a good-natured vibe; it’s a green space where everyone can unwind and savour an ice cream while lounging on the grass. Having recently been refurbished to a high standard, everything about the park – from the facilities to the gardens – has been given a welcome makeover. Dogs are allowed too, ensuring that every member of the family is made to feel welcome at Craigtoun Park.
