YAKINORI
Yakinori is an independent
noodle and sushi restaurant
in Birmingham. While one
branch is located in the state-
of-the-art Central Square
shopping complex, a second
and larger outlet has also
opened in Selly Oak. The sister
company of popular Japanese
venue Woktastic, Yakinori
combines a cheerful and
intimate atmosphere with food
that is authentic, flavoursome
and made to order. Diners
can watch their meals being
prepared before their eyes,
as most seats are placed
within arm’s reach of the large
teppanyaki grill. The options
are plentiful, with top choices
including good old-fashioned
teppanyaki, served with a
tender sirloin steak or without.
If you’re new to the cuisine,
you can’t really go wrong with
this dish. Alternatively, if you
want to try a bit of everything,
the chicken katsu bento box –
which includes a starter of Miso
soup – provides greater variety.
There are five compartments
inside the box, each containing
a delectable treat. The
primary portion of the meal
is, of course, chicken katsu
with rice (breaded chicken to
the uninitiated) but there are
also delicious gyoza dumplings
and
pumpkin
tempura.
When it comes to fresh,
affordable food, Yakinori ticks
all the right boxes.
