Hidden away in the Brighton
Lanes is 64 Degrees, a tidy
little eatery that resembles a
well-constructed shack and
specialises in what it calls
social dining. The head chef,
Michael Bremner, is also the
owner and he’s created a great
ethos that many restaurants
could learn from. With a cool
ambience imparted by low-
level lighting, brass fixtures and
wooden tables, the restaurant
is the perfect spot to grab a
light lunch or more substantial
evening meal. Across the menu
you’ll find fresh, local produce
presented in a tasteful and
sometimes flamboyant manner.
The dishes are broadly British,
although each corner of the
globe, it seems, is given a
splash of the spotlight. Among
the offerings are kimchi
chicken wings with foamy blue
cheese, pureed cauliflower with
pomegranate seeds and shallot
bhaji and toasted potato knödel
served with smoked butter and
braised cabbage. Carnivores,
meanwhile, can sample a
delicious bite-sized pulled
pork burger or a flavoursome
ham hock and girolles. 64
Degrees is a recipient of a Bib
Gourmand by Michelin. Book
a table and see if you agree;
odds on, you unequivocally will.
