OPEN AIR POOL
Since opening nearly 60
years ago, Portishead Open
Air Pool has been helping hot
and bothered Bristolians cool
down on sweltering summer
days. In 2009 the lido was
taken over by a Community
Trust and in 2016 underwent
a major upgrade. It is open
from 8:30am until 7pm during
school holidays and weekends
- check the pool website for
other hours. At 33 metres,
the heated swimming pool is
large enough to accommodate
hordes of families during
school breaks. Moreover, a
heated toddler pool keeps the
little ones happy while their
older siblings frolic in the main
pool. For vistors there is a
retro tuck shop where you can
grab a tub of ice cream, a tube
of sunscreen and swimming
accessories. If you’re feeling
peckish, a range of tasty
snacks and Fairtrade coffee
are available from the onsite
Café Lido. Also open to visitors
all year round, the Café is an
excellent spot to relax with
friends. It’s no wonder the
Portishead Open Air Pool has
been awarded a Hall of Fame
Certificate from TripAdvisor
for achieving excellence over
the past 5 years.
