BRITISH GOLF
MUSEUM
There’s no better place for
The British Golf Museum to
be sited than in the heart of
the home of golf, St. Andrews.
Just 67 yards from the famous
Old Course itself, the museum
houses imaginative exhibitions,
activities
and
multimedia
displays for lovers of golf to
enjoy. You’ll discover over 500
years of golf history within its
walls, ordered chronologically
and thematically into each
section. Stroll through the
Origins of Golf Gallery, where
you’ll find out that golf was
played even in the middle ages,
and became the world famous
game it is today. Indeed, the
earliest written references date
back to 1457, when King James
II of Scotland decreed that
archery should be practiced,
but golf and football banned.
Fast forward a few centuries
and The Modern Golf Gallery
describes the unprecedented
growth of the game from 1946
onwards. The Kids’ Section
has a variety of activities
to keep them entertained
including photo opportunities
and drawing facilities so they
can adorn the walls with their
creative interpretations. Great
value for money, the museum
offers a fun day out for golfers
and non-golfers alike.
