KINDLE HOUSE
In 2010 while taking a
relaxing break in the
French Alps, Kindle House
proprietor Emma Purvis
decided that it was time to get
herself back to work. There
were just a couple of hurdles
to overcome: she was now
living in Ystradgynlais on
the southern edge of the
Brecon Beacons National
Park and she had two young
daughters to look after. Her
love of shopping and the
fact that she had to travel
at least 25 miles to find a
home boutique left Emma
with an obvious choice – to
open her own shop. With an
ethos she describes as chic
rural living, the entrepreneur
has gone on to enjoy
great success with Kindle
House which has grown to
incorporate two premises,
one on Commercial Street
and another on Newton
Road. The products in both
stores have been carefully
chosen to offer high quality,
original wares at reasonable
prices. The Commercial
Street premises is housed
in a lovely Victorian house
with a shopfront and each
store features a number
of individually designed
rooms
showing
home
and garden accessories,
fashion accessories, soft
furnishings, children’s toys,
toiletries and gifts.
