ARTS, CULTURE & TOURISM
VIKINGAR
Visitors can enjoy a number of
interactive exhibits and listen
to storytellers telling Viking
tales and myths, or simply
sit back and relax amidst the
fascinating and interactive
environment. After you’ve had
your fill of Norse adventure, the
kids will probably enjoy a trip to
Barrfields Pavilion Theatre or
to the pool and leisure facilities
that all fall under the Vikingar!
banner. These aren’t presented
as authentic Viking features it
should be noted – merely as
desirable add-ons that justify
making a full day of it in the
West Coast seaside resort.
Take a dip in the 25-metre pool,
which is complemented by a
teaching pool for beginners,
or work up a sweat in the KA
Fitness Studio that’s kitted
out with the latest equipment.
The leisure centre is open
from 9am till 9pm during the
week and from 10am - 5pm at
weekends. The Vikingar! Viking
experience, meanwhile, is
seasonal, operating till 3:30pm
during the summer months and
till 2:30pm in autumn before
closing during December and
January. With ample parking
space and a grassy play area,
on clement days you can crown
your trip with a picnic as you
gaze out across the sparkling
waters.
