West Wall Theatre
The West Walls Theatre is a hidden gem in the
centre of Carlisle. Owned and managed by the
Carlisle Green Room Club, this unassuming
theatre is located down a small side street, and
you could walk right past if you didn’t know it was
there. That would be a real shame though as
this theatre is a Carlisle institution, entertaining
both locals and visitors for over 65 years now. It
offers an annual programme of six different plays,
covering a wide range from comedies, thrillers
and drama to a child friendly pantomime every
Christmas season (oh, no they don’t!). For a small
theatre, they don’t scrimp on quality, with some
impressive productions and brilliant actors whose
antica are sure to engage the whole family. Even
better, the tickets are extremely reasonable, the
staff are lovely and the bar isn’t overpriced. Check
out this gem of a venue for a great night out.

Bitts Park
Bitts Park is a haven from the hustle and bustle of
everyday life. It offers beautiful surroundings as well
as a range of activities available, and is extremely
popular with locals of all ages. There’s beautiful
formal gardens, including the Victoria Park and the
moving Garden of Memories. It’s a peaceful space
for quiet reflection, created with help from the Eden
Valley Hospice. In addition, there’s some lovely
riverside walks that are abundant in wildlife. Or for
the more fitness-focused, some running routes,
outdoor gym equipment and both indoor and
outdoor tennis courts. To keep the kids occupied,
there’s a great adventure play area complete with
Pirate Ship. From Easter to October there’s also a
fun splash park with some fun interactive features
such as spray jets. For the older kids, there’s a
large skate park and everyone can join in for some
crazy golf or the mini maze. Fun all year round for
all the family.
