Carlisle Golf Club was founded in 1908, with
the original layout being designed by Theodore
Moon. Situated less than half a mile from the
M6, it offers easy access to a beautiful course,
set in wooded parkland and providing a test for
any golfer. Many famous championships, both
amateur and professional, have been held at the
club over the years including the prestigious British
Open Qualifiers on several separate occasions.
The course is par 71 (or 73 for ladies) and is
highly respected as one that provides a challenge
for the more experienced golfer, while still not
being too difficult for the higher handicappers.
Both members and visitors alike can’t fail to be
impressed with its stunning greens and well-kept
fairways. In addition, the club offers great practice
facilities, including practice bunkers, chipping
greens and several covered bays, along with a
teaching studio. So even in the direst of weather,
you can get in a decent warm-up or practice
session. The clubhouse provides the chance for a
well-earned drink after a few rounds, with a great
selection of wines, spirits and locally brewed ales.
Its comfortable and welcoming surroundings offer
stunning views across the course (with an outdoor
seating area when the British weather permits) as
well as an excellent menu with a variety of light
snacks and delicious meals. Check out its calendar
of social functions throughout the year, from theme
nights to fine dining taster evenings. Or the more
formal dining room seats an impressive 100 guests
and can be booked for celebrations or corporate
events. Carlisle Golf Club’s friendly staff offer a
warm welcome to members and visitors, and with
the stunning scenery and challenging course, you’ll
be in golfing heaven.
