If you love, like or even tolerate cheese, you’ll relish
a day out at St Andrews Farmhouse. Located in
Anstruther in Fife, this traditional family business
specialises in ‘Anster’ cheese that is handmade
on the farm. During the making, the curd is milled
through a peg mill. This is crucial in creating the
crumbly texture for which Anster is renowned. Cast
iron presses are then used to shape and compact
the cheese. A specially constructed viewing gallery
enables visitors to watch the fascinating cheese-
making process. After learning the secrets behind
Jane Stewart’s cheese, it’s off to Butterpat coffee
shop for a bite to eat. The cafe, also features a
shop that’s stocked, just as you would expect, with
an array of British cheeses. Take away a chunk of
Anster or one of the many other cheeses that have
been handmade on these shores. Elsewhere in
the shop, you’ll find a selection of gifts, crafts and
specialty foods.
THE FACTORY SKATE PARK

Whether you’re into scootering, BMXing,
boarding or blading, Factory Skate Park is
the place to show off your skills. This large
indoor park offers so much to seasoned sport
lovers, but it also helps youngsters who are just
starting out: youth clubs and homework clubs
run three times a week during the school term,
with beginners sessions starting at just £3. The
youth club offers a wide range of workshops
and activities, which have included graffiti,
circus, martial art and digital music classes.
Youngsters are sure to love learning a new skill
with their friends, and parents can relax and get
drinks and snacks from our on site café, there
is also a viewing balcony to watch all the action
happening in the park. The whole park can be
hired on Saturday and Sunday nights, including
live music just to round off the entertainment.
