Museum recounts its history
through a series of fascinating
exhibits. From the American
Civil War to the Battle of the
Atlantic, Liverpool has played
a pivotal role in global events
spanning over two centuries. As
you tour the visitor attraction,
you’ll transported back in time
to the Edwardian era, when
the pier master was king of
the dock and responsible
for controlling the throng of
vessels jostling to unload their
precious cargo from all corners
of the globe. Tax dodging, civil
protest, smuggled contraband
and two world wars all form
part of the city’s maritime story,
one that’s vividly documented
at Seized! The Border and
Customs Uncovered. Visitors
of all ages will be enthralled by
the hair-raising misdeeds that
were once part and parcel of
life on Liverpool’s waterfront. In
addition to touring the museum,
there’s the option to check out
the adjacent Old Dock before
savouring a sumptuous spread
at Maritime Dining Room on the
museum’s top floor.
