Velvet Hotel

There is an individuality about Velvet Hotel that few of its rivals can aspire to. Not a single room in this lush Manchester hotel can be described as generic; the bold furnishings, warm lighting and first-class amenities mean guests feel less like they were in a hotel, and more in a palatial quarter of a chic boutique apartment. Located on the doorstep of the city’s Gay Village district, close to a panoply of fine bars, restaurants and clubs, Velvet grabs guests’ attention from the moment they walk through the door. Statement wallpaper, unique pieces of art and opulent crystal chandeliers can be found in the hotel’s communal areas, while each of the 19 generously proportioned bedrooms boasts a style all its own. Some rooms include eye-catching features such as four-poster beds and roll-top baths; simply ask at reception when booking if you have a preference. However they’re decorated, each room includes free wifi, flatscreen TVs and DVD players. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, meanwhile, lets guests sample Manchester’s social scene without stepping outside. Drop in for a meal and a cocktail ahead of a big night out, or stay put and enjoy the feelgood vibes. Simply put, Velvet is one of Manchester’s quirkiest and most sophisticated hotels.

Unfortunately not a great sleep, felt I was in a boiler room with lots of noise pipes heating etc. Black out blinds is a must, although the room was beautifully decorated I feel that blinds would be best. Staff very nice and food and drinks delicious.

Stayed overnight for work, lovely room, beautiful bathroom, very well decorated with attention to details, all amenities covered including a breakfast box in the morning and a very relaxing environment. Wished we could have stayed for longer.

Really fancy furniture. Lovely bar staff. Reasonable prosecco. Steven fry (not the actual person just a recording) reading Harry Potter in the loos (which are fully self contained units). Had a lovely time :)
