The Plough

The Plough is a comfy, cosy pub in the Harborne district of Birmingham. From the moment you pull up in front of this tidy little venue, you’ll know you’re in safe hands. The Plough may be traditional, but it’s certainly not parochial: this isn’t your average run-of-the-mill village pub – far from it. The inn – a favourite on Birmingham’s social map since opening in 2003 – has recently announced plans for a £750,000 expansion, increasing its number of covers by 70 and installing a brand-new pizza kitchen and coffee bar. That’s in the pipeline, but visit The Plough tomorrow and what can you expect? The first thing to note is a mouth-watering menu replete with good, honest home-cooked meals, fresh seafood dishes and enticing vegetarian options. An impressive selection of rare and award-winning whiskies are also on offer, alongside an array of craft beers from local breweries and further afield. The wine list, meanwhile, showcases some terrific examples of contemporary and old world wines. Whether you call by for a pint or to taste a delicious stone-baked pizza, you can always count on a warm welcome. Top tip: drop in on Sunday for possibly the best roast in Brum.

Great pub with really good real ale, staff are a delight.....what pubs used to be. Good generous portions in a no nonsense setting. Really, really busy but obviously skilled staff get the tables moving round. I understand it is open all day from breakfast onwards. Really great “buzzy” atmosphere. Will return.
