It would not be gilding the lily to state that Adam’s is comfortably among Birmingham’s finest restaurants. On the contrary, it might well be a modest assertion. The Michelin-starred venue, which opened in spring 2013, has recently been named by TripAdvisor as the best restaurant in the UK – and the third best in all of Europe. The stats don’t lie: Adam’s has garnered over 700 five-star bubble ratings since first opening as a pop-up restaurant in Bennetts Hill. Guests passing through the doors can expect excellent front-of-house service and elegant decor, the latter characterised by convex mirrors, hanging lamps reminiscent of glitter balls and marble-studded walls. The food itself is – as you would expect – is faultless, the menu replete with exquisite British dishes given an innovative twist. No fewer than 25 tasting dishes are available, whether you wish to have three, five or nine courses. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the only dining option is the nine-course tasting menu, which includes some of the finest food you’re ever likely to eat. From sea bass with dashi and razor clams to veal sweetbread with white raisin, the food simply melts in the mouth. This is Michelin-star dining at its very best.
