Since Mohammed Ajaib served Brum’s first balti in 1997, the Balti Triangle has become the city’s go-to area for curry connoisseurs. Around 50 characterful balti houses make up the Triangle, with establishments clustered along Ladypool Road, Stoney Lane and Stratford Road in the south of the city. What’s more, most of the family-run restaurants allow customers to bring along their own beer or wine – without charging for corkage. As well as restaurants, the Triangle is home to many greengrocers, sweet centres and authentic spice shops. Fresh and dried Iranian dates, chikoo, duddi, Pakistani carrots, okra, karela and mooli are just some of the exotic foodstuffs on offer. If you want to make your own balti, this is where you come to stock up on the necessary ingredients. Of course, it’s not just food – the Balti Triangle is a unique shopping experience full stop. As well as hardware shops, fancy-dress outlets and outfitters stocking traditional Eastern clothing (saris, shalwar kameez and kaftans), a number of jewellers give you the opportunity to pick up quintessentially Eastern designs. You simply won’t find such a diversity of artefacts on the High Street. After indulging in a spot of retail therapy, heed the rumble of your stomach and head promptly to the nearest balti house.

You really can't go wrong for the money. One of the most consistently excellent restaurants in the balti triangle. It's well worth going for one of the chef's specials if you've not tried them before!
