With Edinburgh playing host to a number of shoddy tartan outlets, it is reassuring so see R&I MacDonald’s insistence on selling only hand-sewn kilts of the finest quality. As well as providing kilts, the family-run firm also sell a diverse range of sporrans, brooches and skean dhu. Always happy to impart advice, the company provide a comprehensive measurement service to ensure that every garment fits snugly, no matter how slight or generously-proportioned the wearer may be. My family have used Macdonald Kiltmakers for generations and the quality and service has been consistently of the highest standard. Their kilts are fantastic, my latest I’ve had for 25 years (of hard wear) and it still looks brand new. I had to get them to make a wee adjustment for a few pounds put on over the years, no problem due to it being superbly made originally. I’ve had kilts, jackets trews we even got a load of tartan to make curtains, everything of the same high standard. I can thoroughly recommend them.

Always a fantastic service from Todd. I\'ve got a kilt, several styles of jacket/waistcoat, sporrans, sgian dubhs, socks and other accessories over the years. All have been excellent and very competitively priced. I\'d recommend to anyone who wants a proper bespoke 5* service for the highest quality product.
