Liverpool Empire Theatre stands imperiously on Lime Street, a famous venue on one of the city’s most famous thoroughfares. Since opening its doors in 1925, the theatre has entertained generations of Liverpudlians, its rafters resonating to countless standing ovations. Empire Theatre is where you’ll find the biggest shows, with national productions regularly alighting here to bring the latest must-see theatre to the North West. From classic musicals – Cats; Les Miserables – to classic singers – The Drifters – some of the biggest names in showbiz have graced the Empire’s stage. The theatre’s two-tier auditorium can seat almost 2,500, making it the largest venue of its kind in Britain. Upholstered in rich reds and golds, the theatre harks back to a more sophisticated time, when no expense was spared in wooing theatre-goers. Liverpool’s own sons, The Beatles, made their mark here in the late ‘50s, back when they were still called The Quarrymen, before returning in 1962 under their new name. Other luminaries to have thrilled audiences at Empire Theatre include Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, The Carpenters, The Shadows and Kate Bush. Today, the theatre continues to host an eclectic programme of events that includes everything from comedy to opera and pop concerts to wrestling. Every historic building has its share of macabre stories, and Empire Theatre is no different. For those who choose to believe, the building is haunted by two ghosts including a young girl clad in Victorian dress. When the curtain is raised, however, all eyes are on the stage. A major touring entertainment venue, Empire Theatre promises shows to entice audiences of all ages. Children’s theatre; ballet; Shakespeare. Whatever your niche, you’ll find something to captivate your attention at this exquisitely designed Lime Street institution.

My friend and I came to see an evening performance of the "Bodyguard" on Friday 6th May 2016 and it was absolutely brilliant, enjoyed every moment from start to Finish. Alexandra Burke was fabulous! and all the other cast were great. Well done everyone. Well worth seeing. Thanks for a great night.
