Boasting to own Liverpool’s finest climbing wall, Awesome Walls will fuel your love for vertical thrills. Housed in a 150-year-old converted church, the climbing centre provides a safe environment in which to flex your muscles and hone your rope skills. With over 1,000 square metres of climbing, there’s ample room for everyone to make their ascent to the top, at a pace that suits their ability level. Small top rope walls are a good place to get started, though experienced climbers will make a beeline for the 17.5-metre lead wall, with its imposing 8-metre overhang. Over the years, the centre has hosted national climbing competitions including the BICC. Awesome Walls isn’t just for climbing either: it’s also for clambering, thanks to an array of bouldering areas. These will allow you to hone the sort of multi-terrain skills that will come handy when you head to the hills.
