There’s an art to mastering Japanese cuisine, and it’s one that Yuzu’s chefs have dedicated many years to. Combine Japanese nous with locally sourced ingredients and the results are stunning, as a meal at Yuzu will demonstrate. The Faulkner Street restaurant serves authentic Japanese food, with sashimi a speciality. A lunch menu is stocked with hearty dishes including chicken katsu and organic teriyaki salmon don, made with organic salmon and the restaurant’s homemade sauce. The signature dishes are rolled out at night, with a sumptuous menu that’s replete with sticky gyoza dumplings, marinated chicken thighs and wakame seaweed served with yuzu dressing. If you like your food fresh and unsullied by the wok, the sashimi is truly excellent. Tuna, scallops and salmon are paired with sushi rice and served in large donburi bowls for diners to work away at with chopsticks. Add a dash of soy, a smear of wasabi and dig in. Wash it down with a Japanese green tea or Asahi black lager; Sapporo is also available. To seal a lip-smackingly good meal, finish off with sake, before venturing out into the night with a smile on your face and a warm glow in your belly.

After returning from holiday to Japan I've been struggling to find a Japanese restaurant in Manchester that can satisfy my cravings for authentic Japanese food. Thankfully the search is over! Yuzu is really authentic, the food is amazingly tasty. I felt like i'd been transported back to Kyoto. Definitely recommended for those who don't mind spending a little bit more for great quality, authentic food.
