Albert’s is a sophisticated restaurant and bar serving British cuisine in some style. Its outdoor terrace sees no end of action during summer, while its plush dining area sees constant action all the year round. Curved booths, upholstered in blue leather, are lit by spot lights that glow gently from the raised ceiling. White linen and gleaming silver cutlery complete the classy look. The restaurant’s ethos is a simple but worthy one: to serve food of the very best quality accompanied by fair prices and friendly service. It would be fair to say that Albert’s excels at all three. The menu, populated with the best of British – plus the odd Mediterranean favourite – begins with starters that could pass as main courses: Welsh lamb cutlet; Thai fillet steak salad. Albert’s further ups the ante with its mains however; the pan-seared tuna loin is delicious, while its fish and chips breathe new life into a classic dish. Salads are a speciality and vegetarians have certainly not been overlooked; try the goat’s cheese and asparagus, served with red peppers and cherry tomatoes, marinated in a walnut pesto. The food may be excellent, but it’s only half the story at Albert’s. The Didsbury establishment’s bar is reason enough to pay a visit on an evening. Champagne Fridays allow drinkers the opportunity to enjoy 50% off Pierre Mignon Grand Reserve all day long. Ease into the weekend with some fizz and a bunch of friends while you chatter on the terrace. During the day, Albert’s also operates a popular lunch menu, allowing diners to enjoy two courses for a fixed price. Start with garlic butter squid or ham and mozzarella salad before moving on to baby scallop risotto or pulled chilli chicken salad, made with tomato and mango salsa.
