Raoul’s Bar is a dimly-lit, intimate lounge bar set across two floors that’s known for its huge cocktail menu and late-night buzz. If you’re visiting the dreaming spires of Oxford, be sure to pay a visit to this long-established gem on Walton Street. Head first for the intimate upstairs space, with its funky 60s décor, where cosy seating areas are packed with cocktail lovers assembled for the finest, fruitiest, strongest drinks in town. Try the Fruit Collins or Mint Juleps and see if you agree. After you've sunk a few in this little haven, head downstairs to the dance space where the other bar is a little more rowdy. Style doesn't overpower substance though and the warm welcome is of the kind that only happens in bars that know exactly what they're about. Raoul’s has been shaking and making drinks since 1979 but was reborn in 1999 following a major refurbishment. Staff use a huge amount of homemade ingredients, from bitters and syrups to falernum and sherberts. Having previously been ranked in the world’s top 50 bars by The Sunday Times, Raoul’s pedigree speaks for itself.

Innovative cocktails. Must try. My favorite are the ones with watermelon.
