The iconic Royal Pavilion is one of the most recognisable buildings in Brighton. It was originally built with the purpose of providing King George IV with a seaside palace. The architecture is a fascinating blend of Indian and Chinese style with accents of Regency pomp. It later took on roles as both a civic building and a wartime hospital before opening its doors to the general public as a tourist attraction. Here you can learn about the Pavilion’s fascinating 200-year history, explore its grand rooms and artworks and discover the stories of its past inhabitants. Audio tours in many languages are available to enhance your visit and an amble around the extensive gardens is sure to delight. Refresh with a drink or meal in the quirky but refined Tearoom or cream tea or snack at the Tea Company, then pick up a souvenir in the shop before you leave.

Lovely exterior and easily recognised as a land mark for Brighton. One of those places you've got to see inside and out. Booked in advance and had easy entry. Really interesting and as there were staff at various points of interest, very informative and friendly. Just shows how the other half lived. Good to see that some of the original trappings and furniture had been loaned from the queens collection. It's a shame that they are going to be returned after this year. I think they should be on permanent loan. Would definitely recommend a visit.
