Great way to get up to Orkney and Shetland. The staff were all very helpful. Good choice of hot meals served onboard. Everywhere was very clean and often seen cleaning going on. Check in was very fast and simple. Would use again.

We visit our family on mainland Orkney frequently and use the Scrabster to Stromness service in both directions. In order to give us a full day in Sutherland on our return trip this time we booked a cabin and boarded at 21.30 the previous evening, leaving our car on the quayside. We were escorted aboard, received a lovely welcome and directed to our cabin. Compared to longer ferry trips we have taken it was more than adequate, we were very pleasantly surprised. The Magnus lounge was open to us with complimentary snacks and drinks. We had a good night's sleep and proceeded to the restaurant for our breakfast (included in the price) just after we sailed. Of course you can have a very early start at 05.00ish, but this was a better start to our day we thought and we weren't disappointed. Arrived in Scrabster, car was on board thank goodness and off we set for our sightseeing day, refreshed and ready to go.
