Dobbies Garden Centre is so much more than its name would suggest. You can head on over for all your gardening needs, to pick up bulbs and seeds or shrubs and trees, but you can also find something less expected. The on-site restaurant produces delicious and wholesome dishes, but it’s the food hall that’s worth getting really excited about: here you’ll find locally-sourced produce amongst more exotic pleasures, including Turkish delight and the finest Mediterranean olive oil. If you’ve finally given in to your child’s plea for a pet, take a trip to Dobbies to peruse the extensive aquatic section. A myriad of tanks house fish of different species, and even crabs and seahorses have been known to pop up now and again. The tank and pet are just the start incidentally: you’ll need food, cleaner and an information booklet - thankfully Dobbies’ knowledgeable staff will be happy to help. If you’re not quite ready to take the plunge and acquire a pet, you can always direct your kids in the direction of children’s world, where you’ll find a huge array of clothing, books and toys to keep them happy.

Went for a Dobbies breakfast while waiting on car service. Well worth it. Could do with crisping up the bacon a bit but still enjoyable. Cakes to takeaway are of a decent size and at a reasonable price.
